We are now recruiting for an EC&I Technician at our Fellside Combined Heat & Power Plant (FCHP) reporting directly to the Site Maintenance Engineer. The EC&I Technician ensures that all Electrical, Control and Instrumentation maintenance routines, defect repairs and projects at the plant are carried out in a safe and efficient manner to support the 24/7 operation of the plant in accordance with corporate policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
Although this role is for an EC&I Technician, we will consider applications from candidates who specialise in either Electrical or C&I and will provide training to fill any gaps.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform programmed maintenance work, defect rectification, emergent and project work relating to rotating and stationary equipment.
- Providing timely feedback and completion of the Electronic Shift Log and the Site CMMS (Maximo).
- Carry out Risk Assessments and produce method statements that detail the safest method to carry out work.
- Troubleshoot assigned EC&I problems, resolving and documenting issues.
- Provide EC&I technical support for day-to-day Engineering and Maintenance activities.
- Produce and improve maintenance procedures, work plans, project scoping documents and contractor work scopes.
- Specify and order assigned spares/replacement equipment in line with site quality procedures.
- Supervise contractor personnel to ensure all work is technically correct and in accordance with site safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Work alongside other members of the Engineering and Maintenance/ Operations Team to review contractor method statements, risk assessments & other required safety documentation for fitness for purpose.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Minimum Requirements:- Time served apprenticeship or NVQ 3 in Electrical, Instrument or Control, discipline.
- Knowledge of instrument and control theory.
- Basic knowledge of The Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Understanding of Permit to work systems, risk assessment and method statement documentation.
- Good understanding of EC&I problem solving techniques and ability to read single line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs.
