What to Expect:
As an Electrical & Instrumentation Design Lead, you’ll be the guardian of Electrical Safety in the design and lifecycle of all E&I installations and equipment. Your role is crucial to ensuring electrical, instrumentation, and functional safety standards are not just met, but exceeded across the site.
Your Daily Impact:
- Safety First: Oversee EP’s/REPs and procedures during the design phase to ensure safety at all stages.
- Technical Excellence: Maintain and review key technical documents, including EPD’s, HAC’s, ATEX, and SIS/Functional Safety documents.
- Lifecycle Management: Contribute to developing lifecycle maps for EOL equipment and support sustainable technology strategies.
- Technical Support: Provide essential E&I technical support for capital projects, operations, maintenance, HSE, and specialist engineers.
- Procurement Collaboration: Supply E&I technical information for new and replacement equipment procurement.
- Leadership in Safety: Actively participate in audit groups and lead incident investigations.
- Process Safety Expertise: Offer E&I expertise for Process Safety Studies such as PHAs, HAZID’s/HAZOPs, SIL reviews, and LOPAs.
- Strategic Planning: Aid in developing the E&I Long Range Plan and budget, focusing on key safety and reliability investments.

Education and Experience:
- Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with design experience in refining or a similar SEVESO industry.
- Additional qualifications in Instrumentation, Functional Safety, ATEX, or related fields are highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of Electrical networks, Instrumentation, safety systems, and process control systems within industrial operations.
- Proven experience in E&I Engineering design within capital projects and maintenance, with knowledge of High-Tension Electrical equipment.
- Authority in the E&I discipline with a talent for solving complex problems with innovative solutions.
- Clear grasp of E&I legislation, industry drivers, and regulatory environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
