Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be supporting a reputable, global organisation with the appointment of a Procurement Assistant to be based at their offices in Newcastle city centre. This role is full time and permanent and can offer £29,000 per annum.

This role will provide procurement assistance to the team across a range of areas - within a global procurement function. You will promote a wide range of activities from sourcing, negotiations, order fulfilment, service provision and invoice management, (renewing existing software arrangements). You will speak with, and influence, a wide range of stakeholders and be regarded as a ‘go to’ person to provide excellent advice on procurement processes and solutions. You will be able to build strong relationships and deliver robust outcomes.
The Role
- Providing comprehensive assistance across the procurement team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of procurement processes.
- This includes creating and tracking purchase orders (POs) in adherence to established policies, while proactively leveraging 90-day arrangement renewal notifications to contact users and renew arrangements ahead of expiry, keeping systems up to date.
- Your tasks will extend to engaging with vendors and internal stakeholders to expedite fulfilment, manage service issues, and address invoicing and related queries, ensuring seamless operations.
- You will also request and receive quotations, negotiate with vendors as directed, and balance cost management with timely delivery.
- Building strong relationships both internally and externally will be key, allowing you to become a reliable business partner and a reliable point of contact for procurement assistance.
- Additionally, you will integrate sustainability into procurement activities to align with organisational goals in carbon reduction and social remit, while liaising with Legal and Finance teams as needed.
- Ensuring effective use of procurement processes and systems, maintaining records, reporting progress, and undertaking ad-hoc administrative and data entry tasks will round out your crucial contribution to the team.
Person Specification/Requirements
- Experience of operational procurement within a large/multi-regional environment.
- Knowledge and familiarity with core procurement elements and systems – Purchase orders, quotations, contracts, invoicing and delivery/fulfilment.
- Excellent communication skills with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Strong focus on delivery and demonstrating the value of procurement in your work
- Attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement
- Experience of using technology for best value and efficiency
