Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be partnering with a growing manufacturing organisation in Billingham on the appointment of a Project Buyer to join their purchasing team. This role is full time and permanent.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the successful applicant will work full time on supporting the Engineering department with core procurement activities to ensure they are executed in line with business requirements.
The successful candidate will have a strong blend of technical and commercial acumen and the ability to manage internal stakeholders within challenging deadlines.
Experience working within design engineering/manufacturing environment would be preferred.

This is an on site role with working hours of Monday to Friday 07:30-16:00 or 08:00-16:30.
The Role:
- Responsible for the project procurement of key materials required for new product development, sourcing new products and raw materials, identifying new suppliers to support new projects from prototyping through to product launch.
- Day to Day management and execution of project related open orders, expediting materials, in line with project deliverables with a particular focus on quality documentation and planning.
- Working closely with external suppliers and internal manufacturing project teams, balancing challenges of internal team and external customers to achieve quality, timescales, and cost effectiveness from suppliers.
- Negotiating delivery timetables with supplier based within the UK, Europe, and China. Focusing on the ability to balance and meet conflicting needs and requirements.
- Support cross functional business objectives and key initiatives.
- Ownership of cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the development of procurement processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate non-value add activities.
- Able to communicate clearly with people at all levels, both internal and external to the client.
- Self-motivated, flexible and can work under pressure on their own initiative
Person Specification:
- Ability to read engineering drawings is essential for this role
- Engineering/Prototyping background
- Experience and understanding of core project procurement activities, ideally new product development in an engineering/technical/project-based environment
- A strong blend of commercial and technical acumen
- Knowledge and experience of working to stringent technical quality standards
- Ability to manage internal stakeholders working to tights deadlines
- Minimum of 2 years track record of buying raw materials, equipment, ideally working within manufacturing or engineering related environment.
- Able to demonstrate cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Educated to at least HNC, Level 3 CIPS or in an appropriate technical or commercial subject
