Lead Design Engineer

We’re partnering with an engineering organisation delivering complex industrial projects to recruit a Lead Design Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced design professional who wants to take ownership of technical delivery while remaining hands-on in design.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of design outputs across multiple projects. You will act as the technical lead for design activities, coordinating inputs, checking outputs, and ensuring everything meets the required standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the design and development of industrial equipment and systems
Producing and reviewing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
Ensuring all designs meet technical, regulatory, and project requirements
Coordinating design reviews and driving progress across teams
Supporting design optimisation, safety improvements, and cost efficiency
Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineer

What We’re Looking For

Strong background in mechanical design within heavy engineering environments
Experience with bulk handling, conveyors, or similar systems
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Inventor, Revit, or SolidWorks
Knowledge of technical drawing standards and manufacturing processes
A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills

Lily is a Senior Consultant and started her career with Jackson Hogg's Engineering team back in 2021. This is where she cut her teeth on all aspects of engineering design, projects and management. After relocating to London in 2023 she spent 2 years focused on Senior Leadership and Engineering across sustainability in the UK and Europe spanning all the way from Hydrogen through to BESS, renewables and e-mobility. She is excited to be back with the team at Jackson Hogg to support on Senior Engineering and Management positions, from Head of Engineering, Projects, Management and R&D. Outside of work you'll find Lily out enjoying food or whipping up some overly adventurous dish at home. She also loves to stay fit and whenever the weather allows it she'll get out on a long run.
