Manufacturing Engineer - 12 month FTC
About the Role
We are working on behalf of a leading, UK-based engineering organisation operating within a highly regulated and complex manufacturing environment. This confidential opportunity is for a Manufacturing Engineer to join on 12-month fixed term contract, supporting the delivery of technically advanced products from concept into production.
This role offers the chance to work at the interface of design, production, and continuous improvement, ensuring efficient, high-quality manufacturing processes within a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimise manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from design through to production readiness
- Create and maintain:
- Work instructions
- Manufacturing documentation
- Process flow diagrams
- Translate engineering designs into practical, manufacturable solutions
- Provide hands-on support to production teams, resolving manufacturing issues and non-conformances
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (cost, quality, delivery)
- Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and efficiency
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, supply chain, quality, and project management
- Analyse production data to identify trends and implement process improvements
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
About You
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
- Strong understanding of:
- Fabrication, machining, or assembly processes
- Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
- Experience supporting NPI / production transition activities
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing / continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach
- Effective communicator with experience working across multiple teams
Desirable Experience
- Experience within heavy engineering, fabrication, or regulated industries
- Familiarity with welding, structural assemblies, or complex mechanical systems
- Experience using CAD systems or manufacturing simulation tools
