Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a well-established food manufacturing business with the appointment of an experienced Mill Technician to join their milling operation in Brighouse.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced milling professional who is looking to take on a broader level of responsibility within a growing business. Working as part of a close-knit team consisting of a Mill Manager and two Mill Technicians, the successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the mill and will be trusted to oversee operations in the absence of the Mill Manager.

This position would suit an experienced mill operative or milling technician who is comfortable making operational decisions, monitoring performance, maintaining product quality standards and ensuring production runs efficiently and safely.

The Role

Reporting to the Mill Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the mill while ensuring production, quality, food safety and hygiene standards are consistently achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating and optimising milling equipment to achieve production targets.
• Monitoring flour quality and ensuring products meet customer specifications.
• Taking ownership of mill performance and making process adjustments where required.
• Supporting the intake of raw materials and dispatch of finished products.
• Conducting routine operational, hygiene and safety inspections.
• Completing HACCP, CCP and food safety checks in line with site requirements.
• Identifying faults and escalating or resolving issues to minimise downtime.
• Supporting planned maintenance activities and liaising with engineering teams.
• Maintaining accurate production, quality and stock records.
• Driving high standards of housekeeping, food safety and operational compliance.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the mill.

What We're Looking For

We are keen to speak with candidates who have previous milling experience and a strong understanding of mill operations.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience within flour milling or a similar process manufacturing environment.
• Be capable of running the mill independently when required.
• Possess strong operational and problem-solving skills.
• Have a practical, hands-on and mechanically minded approach.
• Be confident making decisions and prioritising workloads.
• Understand food safety, quality and HACCP requirements.
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
• Have good IT skills, including experience using production systems and Microsoft Excel.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary between £31,000 - £35,000, with flexibility available for exceptional candidates.

Working Pattern

The current working pattern is:

Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm 40 hours per week

Please note that the business is planning to move to a shift-based operation in the near future. Candidates should therefore be flexible and willing to work shifts as the operation evolves.
