The Company
Our client is a well-regarded UK-based specialist in leak detection and environmental protection. The business protects commercial property and life by delivering innovative systems that monitor for water, fuel, and hazardous refrigerant gas leaks.
Operating with an asset-light model, the company focuses on deep domain knowledge and exceptional customer service, outsourcing detailed manufacture to trusted partners while distributing key third-party brands. They are currently part of a wider industrial investment group that acquires "mission-critical" UK businesses and develops them into higher-quality, faster-growing entities while maintaining their unique identity and autonomy.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly driven Managing Director to lead the team and build upon the founder's legacy. Based in West Sussex, you will have full P&L responsibility and significant operational freedom to shape the future of this profitable business.
The primary mission is to accelerate profit growth well beyond current market rates by focusing on:

International expansion and key market segment focus.

Range extension driven by regulatory requirements (such as BREEAM and F Gas legislation)

Talent development, ensuring the business recruits and retains "A-grade" talent.
Key Responsibilities

Continuously evolve the strategic plan to deliver sustainable, year-over-year profit growth.

Drive breakthrough performance in the refrigerant gas and commercial leak sectors.

Maintain an ethical, transparent, and innovative environment focused on continuous improvement.

Ensure the organization is set up for long-term success while delivering on short-term budget commitments.

Facilitate synergy and collaboration across the wider parent group.
The Person
The ideal candidate is a proactive, results-driven leader who is curious about technical innovation and able to translate it into a competitive advantage.
Requirements:

A track record of delivering results; previous P&L responsibility is a plus but not a strict requirement if the candidate is open to coaching.

Strong background in sales management, including channel management and key account optimization.

Proven ability to build, inspire, and develop high-performing teams while decisively managing underperformance.

Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of an organization.

Graduate calibre, preferably with a degree in a Technical or Business discipline.
