A leading global manufacturer is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy engineering and operations function, delivering manufacturing improvements, production support, and process optimisation within a technically challenging environment.
This role would suit a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who can quickly integrate into an established team, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and deliver measurable improvements across production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day manufacturing engineering support across production, assembly, machining, testing and inspection processes.
- Resolve manufacturing, quality and process-related issues to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
- Develop and improve manufacturing methods, routings, process documentation and work instructions.
- Design and enhance tooling, fixtures, gauges and production aids to improve efficiency and repeatability.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, production transfers and industrialisation activities.
- Work closely with production, quality and design engineering teams to improve manufacturability and operational performance.
- Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, productivity and process capability.
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role within automotive, aerospace, industrial, precision engineering or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, GD&T and assembly methods.
- Experience supporting production operations and delivering practical engineering solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 8D, 5 Why and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience with NPI, process validation, tooling improvements, process development or production readiness activities would be advantageous.
